Alfa Laval BlueBox calibration and accuracy verification carried out onboard to ensure compliant bilge water discharge performance.
The Alfa Laval Blue Box Oil Content Meter (15 ppm Alarm) sets the standard in reliable oil in water monitoring for ships’ oily water systems. Built by Alfa Laval, this robust unit continuously measures the oil content of effluent and prevents overboard discharge unless the oil level is below the required 15 parts per million threshold.
Designed to work with any oily water separation solution, the Blue Box OCM is housed in a lockable unit that logs all key discharge and event data. This includes overboard oil content, alarm conditions, and operational history all stored securely and exportable for inspection.
Marine regulations such as IMO and MARPOL require accurate oil content monitoring to prevent pollution, and the Blue Box delivers just that with tamper proof protection, real time digital recording, and automatic control of discharge valves based on ppm values.
In line with IMO/ISM/SOLAS/SIRE 2.0 requirements, bilge alarms and oil content meters must be verified for accuracy and maintained according to manufacturer instructions. Calibration records are vital for inspections and should be checked during IOPP surveys or at intervals not exceeding five years, or as specified by the manufacturer.
